We have known what All India Strength Wars is all about in the previous post. You can check it out here. Today, we are going to explore an event that ignited the spark within all the calisthenics enthusiasts over India.

The Effect

A.I.S.W 1.0 was the first ever national calisthenics championship that took place in Mumbai. Everyone who had witnessed the event can tell you that 10.03.2018 was an historic day for the Indian calisthenics community. For the first time athletes from all over the India coming up at one platform and facing off to win the champion title. Although all the participants were meeting each other for the first time, it looked like the whole cali gang has been together for years. It was beautiful to see everyone supporting each other, getting to know their fellow mates, understanding the scene in different parts of the country. This event was successful in giving identities to deserving athletes, their hard-work gave them names & it gave the community an event to look upto and prepare for! So let's cover everything that happened on that day!

My Experience

- Punit Shah

I had heard about some competition that was happening at Malad, which was close by to my residence. During that point of time I simply use to follow Frank Medrano and try to copy his cali moves. Calisthenics was something that was new to me & I was in a phase where I had just started to learn my first muscle-ups. I decided to simply visit the place and have a look about what's happening there. I had no intentions of participation, I simply went there as a spectator.

After watching a few performances and experiencing the vibe, I got an inner voice that pushed me to participate. I did an on-the-spot registration and decided to participate in the body-weight category. I had no faith that I could complete the circuit because the circuit had muscle-ups and pistol squats, something that I had just started to practice. I still gave it a shot. Here is the complete video of my participation. I somehow managed to complete the circuit and that is when my actual calisthenics journey started. So basically, A.I.S.W 1.0 was a turning point in my calisthenics journey as well.

This is all about A.I.S.W 1.0! The next post would be exploring A.I.S.W 2.0 which was even bigger event than 1.0. An international judge had been called & there was a freestyle category too! Stay Tuned for updates and stay connected with us!
